The Rally Rolls On

To paraphrase Arlo Guthrie. "I75 is closed, man!"

We got over to the Little Bear Arena about 8:00am since the rally was to start at 10:00.  There were so many cars there already you would have thought we were late!   Pre-rally time is always fun.  We were directed to our spot in line, put out our Ohio flag and started to look for old and new friends.  We learned during last year's Mini Takes The States that you need a way to find your MINI in an ocean of MINIs.  That's why we came up with the Ohio flag idea.  It worked great...and of course we met some fellow Ohioans who stopped by to say hello!

Cheri can stand under the flag; I cannot

Could we puh-leeze get going?

"Follow the Mini in front of you no matter what"
After we received our instructions it was time to start our engines and get ready.  The number one rule in any MINI rally is: follow the MINI in front of you.  That means you run at their pace and go where they go.  The Michigan State Police closed down parts of I75 so we could all stay together but it still got pretty interesting because some people made it a spirited drive while other drove like Sunday drivers.  There were so many cars that the line over  the Mackinac Bridge went on and on and on.   The air was cool over the open water but we had the top down all the way!  The drive went over the bridge, down to an I75 exit, back onto I75 and back to St Ignace.  The drive took a couple of hours.  Then it was back to Little Bear Arena for a lunch of picnic style food.  Hamburgers, hotdogs, etc.

Motor on!

That's a fine bunch of MINIs Ma'am

Up and over headed south toward Mackinaw City

Say, isn't that Jackie Stewart and Mini Spice high upon the Mackinac Bridge?

Weinerlicious in Mackinaw City...view from the bridge.  We did not eat here but it deserved a photo
